Installing new smart thermostat

I have made two attempts to install a sensi thermostat controller In our 1993 sea ray 40’ Express Cruiser. I know now that the black wire is hot. The white wire is common based on what was written in the manual. They said there is a green wire for ground but I do not have a green wire I’m assuming the bear wire is ground. Does anybody know where the red wire goes on the sensi? The manual does not say what the red wire is?

The current thermostat is not setup like a home thermostat - so you cant swap it out.

Home units typically run on 24vac - and have separate wires when calling for heat or air conditioning, and perhaps another wire for fan.

Assuming you have a SMX-II control panel - it runs off 5v, and I can only assume a data/logic path between the control panel and the circuit board / AC unit.

Not sure if there are any ‘smart’ alternatives - havent searched/heard of any.

Thank you for your reply. Yea I have cut the wires going to the panel three times to try to wire the sensi. Tried multiple combinations unsuccessfully. And had to reconnect the wires to the six II each time. I continued trying because my brother quickly wired the sensi in his Silver-ton absolutely no issues. Man the spell check on this site is terrible!

I may try just putting on a Wi-Fi smart switch on the wire coming off the 120V breaker panel so I can remotely turn the AC on and off. Would accomplish the same thing but just won’t be able to control the temp remotely. We live in Houston where it’s smoking hot this time of year so just trying to avoid leaving the AC’s on all the time so we don’t walk into a cabin that is 100 degrees.

@Bill Mero What your trying to do is not goin to work in any fashion. The SMX controls are digitally controlled.

Citi Marine has a Smart Touch WiFi controller that will work. Depending on the control board of your unit, it may be plug and play.

Thank you. I contacted citimarine and they said they did not have a controller that would do what I wanted. But I don’t think the man I talked with understood that I did have a good internet connection and only wanted to do this at my marina. I plan to call them back. So you don’t think that I could simply just turn the AC on and off but not control the temperature setting with a smart switch on the power wire coming off the breaker. I would them just leave the breaker on all the time and control the power going to the AC with the smart switch. The AC would come on remotely at whatever temp I set before leaving the boat.
