Based on recommendations here, I bought an iPod interface cable with 2 RCA jacks and a hot (with fuse) and ground wire for tapping into the 12V system.

I hooked the RCAs to the AUX input on the XMD3. I pulled the 12V switch panel and found a number of options for hooking it up, but wanted to get some opinions before I finished the job.

Ground: Behind the panel I noticed what looks like a grounding bar screwed into the hull, that has several black wires screwed into it. Must be 12V because the gauge on the wires is too small for 110V. I was planning to remove one of those screws and add my ground wire on top and screw it back down.

Hot: I was thinking of attaching the hot (red) wire onto the switched side of one of the switches on the 12V panel. The "Accessory" switch seemed to make sense.

Thanks in advance for any opinions/recommendations?

Did this project myself on my 330 last year.

The grounding bar is exactly what you want.

If you're going to piggy back on to an existing breaker switch, make sure you've got enough headroom (if everything on that switch is on at the same time, will you exceed the rating of the breaker?).

For my installation, I got a new 15A breaker from Sea Ray parts and have it dedicated to the ipod, in what was a blank space on the panel. Allows me to decide when I want it to draw battery for charging.
