We often motor out a couple hundred yards from our marina and drop anchor, cook out and have some adult beverages after work during the week. Our harbor is a destination to many NW boaters, so we simply take advantage of what we have right under our nose and throughly enjoy it.
You also live in the greatest place in the NW though!
Yes, we feel quite lucky. We moved here 3 years ago from central Illinois - 4 years before that we lived in Dallas. We had never owned, or thought of owning a boat before. Six months of being near the water and I couldn't stand it any longer. Best decision we ever made. We are hooked....now, we need to find the money for a bigger boat!
WOW Chris!!! I was searching for Gig Harbour on google earth...looks like a great place for cruising. Do you want to make an exchange vacation with me!!! I'll let you use my 390 on the mediterranean sea!!:grin::grin:
It is a great place to cruise!
We did a cruise around the heal of Italy to Dubrovnic about three years. We hit Malta, Cinque Terra, Naples, etc. I remember looking out at the water one day as we were cruising, seeing a couple of sport cruisers go by, and said "wow" now this is the place to cruise!
We get to the dock Friday night (on a typical weekend), load our beer... I mean supplies... and we're off! Sunday afternoon we head back to the dock and leave. We boat with a regular group, probably about 15-20 boats, and spend all our time on the hook. Dock-sucking just isn't our bag. On holidays and long weekends, it can look like this:
Looks cool. You guys would fit just right in with our local group . Too bad you're too far from our bay.
