So my son runs a small lighting company mainly based for cars and I told him I wanted LED's for my boat.

He installed (2) 1142 White LED's up top and I love the look of them but down below they are 1141's which look identical to 1156's. He does not carry 1141's but everywhere we have looked, it states that 1156 LED bulbs could also be a replacement for 1141's but out of the few different varieties of 1156 bulbs he carries, none of them work! They are all 12v bulbs like my stock bulbs.

So I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not there is a difference between 1141 and 1156. He told me he will pick up a few pairs of 1141 bulbs if his manufacturer sells them but is questioning whether or not it will work.

For those who have experience swapping out their stock bulbs for LED's, please shed some light! ;)

Thanks.

I've swapped ours with no problems. I bought from Superbrightleds.com and used the 3910 x 6 bulbs for the arch and cockpid lights. I know polarity plays a role so try swapping orientation if they don't work?

Yeah, after doing more research I found that 1141's are the same as 1156's so now I am really confused as to why they don't work. I am wondering if the bases aren't long enough to make contact, who knows! :(
