Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
I was telling my broker on the phone today that I've quite literally picked the worst time in history to buy I've been daydreaming about boats for years, and actually came really close to pulling the trigger on a 350 back in 2019. Just wasn't fully prepared financially to take it on. Funny enough, if I would've bought the boat back then it would've actually been a great investment (I can't believe I'm talking about boats and investments in the same sentence). I read some stories of people selling their boats for double after just one year, crazy stuff.
I'm looking for a 28-35 foot Sundancer, CY, or Regal (of course Sundancer is #1 on the list). Preferably something a bit newer. My budget is around $140k. Really digging these two as options right now: https://www.yachtworld.com/boats/2015/cruisers-yachts-310-express-3830749/

Weird seeing a 2005 sundancer be listed for the same price as a 2011. I think some of these guys are just placing huge asks and seeing if any dummies bite.
Ha, thanks for linking that crazy prices thread - I actually read most of it over this past weekend and caught up in there earlier today, absolutely insane. Truthfully am glad for the people who have been in this hobby for years and can get some money out of it.
Hmm, sounds like I might need to just suck it up for this season and begin my search again in August. I have read that prices might just keep soaring for a few more years since already 22/23 new models are sold out. Even so, it still makes sense to wait till the end of summer so i can actually get some inventory/options.
LOL took me a second to realize what you meant by the book of faces. I know it's not like a car - I've already learned that the banknote on the boat is the cheapest monthly expense
I've been wanting to get a boat for 6+ years but it wasn't the right time, or I felt like I was going to stretch myself thin financially, or thought "maybe this is just a phase I'm going through". Anyways, at this point, I'm finally deciding Im just gonna do it. If ive been thinking about it for this long, its obviously not just a phase. I want to give it a real shot. Even if I'm out after a year or two, I dont think I can go any further on in life wondering "what if if I had a boat".

Welcome to CSR!
What sort of boat are you looking for? Not only did you pick the worst time of the year to buy, prices right now are abnormally high. Check out this thread with lots of examples of pricing gone wild here in the US: http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/man-are-boat-prices-going-up.103498/
CaptainEd here on CSR has his boat at the Kona Kai Marina in San Diego. Let us know what you are looking for and maybe we can help. When I bought my boat last summer, I ended up finding it in the Delta near Sacramento and brought it down to SoCal. The prices were better and it was nice to get a fresh water boat.

Hey Kas, ya boat prices have gone insane. But i found if you search The book of faces in your local area you can find something to float on. Buddy, its not like a car. You will spend way way more than you plan. Breaks a lot, requires massive attention and repairs. Owning a boat aint for shallow pockets and peeps with no commitment to the lifestyle.
