Just bought a 1986 Boston Whaler 110 Sport with an Evinrude 20 HP OB on it. :smt038:smt038:smt038

Pick it up Friday.

We are excited , this will primarily be a kids' boat for use on our local lake, but will be taking it with us on some trips as a tender.

The boat is in perfect running condition. Two key upgrades on it that I like are the teleflex steering and the power trim/tilt unit. Very slick on a little skiff like this.

We'll run it for the rest of the season, then when winter hits it will come indoors for a complete restoration to showroom condition. A father/son project if you will...

Yeah those seats are special.

I really am NOT an advocate for exterior wood on a boat -> but I presume this has a good cover?

Congrats! I have been looking for a 160 Dauntless as well for basically the same purpose; To take my sons fishing and for my older son to take out when he gets a couple years older.

Looks like a great project. I became a 2 boat (may not be a "boat" but I am not paying taxes on 2 boats) owner a month ago when a friend gave me a great deal on a PWC so I guess I can say- Welcome to the Club!

Thanks Scott. What length is that one with a 70hp on it? Looks like a lot of engine on a little one.

I'll also be looking for some info on reparing the hull on these puppies...have some holes from the old pulley steering system to fix and some chips and dings. No surface cracks or stress cracks in the gel coat, so hoping to just spot fix everything and blend. But not sure how close we'll be able to match the color. And lots and lots of buffing. Then there is all the wood work to be re-done. In some cases I'll be replacing with new, but most of it is in pretty good shape, just needs refinishing.

Cheers,

didn't know there WAS a 2 boat owners club....guess I'm in
still have my 85 MarshHawk I bought new ...still a good runnin' boat too just not pretty

All that wood is mahogany I think, right?

That wood sure looks pretty with all that varnish.

I have a boat with exterior wood. Does not get covered in the summer (too hard on a blowboat). Revarnish is every two years -> four to six coats with 12 - 24 hour dry time in between.

That looks like a nice little boat. I've got my eye out for one for my kids to use and for me to have a little fun with.

16' Princecraft for duck hunting, since 1995

Welcome to the club!

Congrats, I love Whalers. My parents bought a new 16' Whaler Katama for me to use as a tender to their Chris Craft when I was 14.
