Kill Switch on a 89 Bowrider

My 1989 200br did not have one.

I just purchased an 88 and it does not have one, but, I intend to install one for when I'm out screwing around and having a good time and there is just the slightist possibility that I could lose control (fall overboard, lose my footing, fall backwards from my seat, bla, bla, bla). It cost way less for a kill switch then it does for a casket for you or someone you love. If you are never going to do any wave hopping, wild and crazy water skiiing and wake boarding and stuff like that, then maybe you could get by without one, BUT, some other jerk could cause you to take an evasive action that could cause you to lose control, SO! Be safe, Be happy, spend the twenty bucks, could be the cheapest insurance you ever purchased. Happy Boating!

Thanks for the info. That's a good safety point, we'll install one also.

Does anyone have any idea where is the "lanyard"? I'm not sure if it is in the engine or in the boat?

Thanks

One other question: Our gauges besides the speed and battery are not working. Could anyone guide us in a direction that we might be able to fix them? That would be nice to have the rpm, fuel and temp gauges working.

Thanks

you definitely need the temp & fuel gauge to be working. check the hot wire feeding them or maybe they have a common ground that is bad.
