I've said it before; Idaho is a screwy state! Anyone else have a boat ramp like this?

Yep, people do just drive right out into the lake. It's happened three times in as many years. Don't you think they'd, oh, I don't know; change the road?

We have one similar in Port Jefferson, NY. The road ends in a T, with the ramp across the street. It's a major road.

Issues have been few. There has always been a traffic light, turn only arrows on the pavement, and Do Not Enter signs. But improvements were made after an older driver got confused at night in heavy fog, and drove down the ramp into the water. Improvements include turn-only arrows on the traffic light, and new bright orange and flashing signage indicating a T intersection is approaching.

There a few bad ones in the Richmond, VA area. Steep, curvy, severe drop offs, etc. It's one of the reasons I quickly went from trailering a boat to keeping it in a slip. The lines, impatience and yelling got old real quick too.

It’s better than having it exit into the closed off area in the other pic. (;-)

Need some roundabouts at launches to improve traffic flow.
And more social workers vs law enforcement.

You've yet to witness drivers in this part of the country. I swear, nobody has the first clue on how to enter/exit a roundabout. I could make millions by planting cameras around the valley and posting them on YT.
As for traffic control, our LEOs around here are a good bunch, and do quite the respectable job with handling traffic. Really, what it comes down to around here is proper street design for good flow patterns. That is, until some impatient jackass decides he's waited long enough and charges down the "Out" lane of the ramp. It gets frustrating/entertaining to watch. I can hardly wait to get the boat into the lake and over to its slip.

They recently converted an intersection near my house that I travel thru almost daily to a roundabout. What a mess. I want to buy an old Mack dump track and just push these cars thru it...they stop almost every single time...

People actually drive down the road and into the lake? We have a saying here in Michigan… “You can’t fix stupid…”

.......and Joe Biden is living proof.....
Now, don't go politicizing my boat ramp thread! ;) We're having fun here talking about idiot drivers.

Like I said in the quotes thread, when you make something idiot-proof, they'll just go invent a better idiot.

I almost think that would be better than what they do around here; drive right on in, totally oblivious to the fact that that car coming up from your left side is in the roundabout, and you're supposed to yield to them. Lots of horn honking and flag-waving involved.
