Our 5ECD Genset has been running all season and this weekend it ran one day and then the next day would not start. I was trying to start remotely from the cabin so I proceeded to manually start right at the genset. Nothing!! I really mean nothing no signs of life at the genset when trying to start manually. The display would not light up not pump noises, NOTHING. I confirmed all fuses are good and test working, also confirmed power to the genset as well as to the control panel. I cannot find any good diagnostic info on the control panel, but I can get 12 volts at the black and yellow that go to the control panel.
Has anyone else seen this? What did you do? I am thinking of buying a new control panel but at $1000 it is a huge money guess...
Thank you for any input.

I would try to disconnect the main wiring harness that's attached to the generator that goes to the remote start..... and then reconnect. Could be loose.

Or while it's disconnected try starting from the generator itself.

Do you have your manual?

This will sound stupid, but is your battery switch on? on my 280, the starboard engine and gen share a battery, while port and house share a pair of batteries. If my starboard battery switch is "off" i get no response from the gen.

Yes we have power to the genset but nothing shows active when switching nothing at all. Having a pro look tomorrow...

The controller went bad. Had to buy a new main controller at $1k. :-(
Backup and running again.

Ouch.

Do you still have your old controller?

Have you thought of sending it out for someone to figure out what component went bad so it can be repaired?
