Kohler Generator Service

I had a new generator installed on my 2010 Sundancer 310 last spring. This year it has failed to turn over (starts but then dies). My marina (Bass River on Cape Cod) has no one to service it. I called Kohler, and the names they gave me have no one either. If someone has a generator service person in New England please let me know. Appreciate the assistance.

As far as a Koehler mechanic in your neck of the woods, I’m not much help, but lots of Koehler owners on here. But getting anybody to look at a generator on a boat is a major hassle these days. What year and model you got?

If your up for a little DIY troubleshooting, you might get it back running sooner. Almost all of these generators have a self shutdown feature that looks at high exhaust and coolant temps (no raw water flow) or low oil pressure. It may be as simple as a loose wire or bad $50 sensor. Sounds like what you’ve got going on.

Is your generator throwing any codes?
