I have a 2004 280 Sundancer. I replaced the water heater with a Kumma 6 gallon water heater two seasons ago. Worked great. I winterized the boat this last winter and now spring is here I flushed the water system of antifreeze and fired up the engines. The water heater runs off the port engine as well as shore power. I had hot water from shore power but not form the warm port engine. I looked at the Kumma manual and it says you need to put air in the system by opening the closet hot water faucet to the heater with the water off and then opening the T & P temperature and pressure valve on the heater. I did so still no luck. Any suggestions?

I have not read the manual, and what your stating does not make complete sense.

If you are getting hot water using 120v electric, then you should get hot water using the engine. The engine might take longer though.

Is this your first time using the engines to heat the water? I have not timed it, but it probably takes 2+ hours of engine runtime to heat that tank of water. Electric will work faster.

Did you bypass the water heater for winterization? If so, you need to undo that.

Thanks for the quick reply. I definitely didn't run the engine long enough. I didn't install the bypass, i went with the glycol antifreeze to fill the heater with over the winter. The manual had that as a winterization option.

I have same heater, installed new this spring. I have raw water engine. It don’t really do much good at idle, doesn’t get hot enough. You have to be running at speed a while. I find it’s mostly to keep it hot after heating with AC.

Thanks. I need to hook up to shore power and try the 110.

I checked by turning on the valve on the tank. Thanks.
