Hello - I am moving my 2009 280DA 496 SeaCore/Generator/CruiseAir to near Benicia CA from Lake Erie sometime in March. I have owned this boat since new. We have family out there and it will get more use than Lake Erie. I already have a slip. This move will occur as close to possible to 3/1/2024. Please recommend a boat lift company and a transportation company and a boatyard. Any friendly souls that can provide a few pointers - and importantly help me avoid issues - would be a godsend. Your help would be appreciated.

Prior to shipping, the boat will be thoroughly checked for zebra muscles, cleaned, changed to hard anodes, etc. We will start checking the manifolds that right now are the original and just fine. But, of course, this is a big expensive toy and I do want to care for it.

I like all the boating activities. I will be bringing an Achilles Rib tender separately from the move. I intend to join a PCYA affiliated organization. I am looking through all the threads now on things like the delta spots. But would love to have your take.

Thanks

Not sure I would make that trip in early March. Too many weather issues. Unless you're going to have it properly shrink wrapped.

it will be heavy duty shrink-wrapped. I can't stomach the thought of hurting the boat.

Chris Holmes will take care of you and you will not be disappointed.

Tim Beatie -Beatie marine transport is in Port Clinton.
Very detail oriented guy.
Not sure if hr rolls as far as Cali, but I would give him a ring

Guy's it's still January. Can't we at least debate the best route over-water for a week or two before handing over solid transportation recommendations? You guys act like it's July :)

Any updates on your move? We did quite a bit of boating in the Delta when I has in grad school in Sacramento in the 90s and bought our Sea Ray in Isleton in 2020. The relocation of the boat from Isleton to Long Beach was a lot of fun. Looking at recent satellite images, it looks like the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet is almost gone.

I think going down the Mississippi might be shorter?
Delta is close lots of marinas rio vista area and places to go. Lots of wind too at times. As u go inland east u get fresh water.

The mothball fleet is almost gone. Maybe 5 left
When I was stationed at Port Chicago in 1975, there were 13 rows of 13 ships each.

I had that fantasy once.

Met a guy a few weeks ago. He trucked his 50 footer from San Diego, because he said the diesel and crew cost was more Than truck.

Benicia is near where the fresh meets the sea water.
Upriver, a few miles is Pittsburg, where the water is fresh.
