I have a few inches left on the panel below my Raymarine RL80CRC where I would like to mount some type of LCD panel which will connect to the Mercruiser 8.1s SmartCraft system.

It has to be small and I do not even care if it includes a chart plotter. I primararily want to install it and use it for engine and fuel monitoring functions

I understand the Raymarine items are incompatible with Smart Craft,

SOooo what is out there?

Thanks

Navman or Northstar. Northstar 6100 is a nice unit if it will fit. SB

Your suggestions led me to this item I am going to check into some more

Not sure if it will work, but would seem strange that according to Mercruiser the 2001 8.1s engines are supposedly set up for Smart Craft output

I have sent a message to them inquiring about refitting.

The newer color ones like in your link are nice. The earlier models like on my 340, I think its the 1000, tells you everything you need for alot less money. If you keep an eye on ebay, used displays pop up alot, and relatively cheap. Right now there is a complete, new setup on there. Even though his boat and engines are different, Henry Boyd can probably point you in the direction of parts needed to install everything. I believe there are a few sensors that need to be changed out such as fuel senders but I could be wrong. I'm only going off of what I vaguely remember from reading in the past.

What does "Continouswave.com" have to do with it? The link was not even from their site.

and as to stealing bandwidth, oh-boy. Just as an "aside" before ones knickers get all wadded up

Just how much do you think all of the ISP's steal from all home users? Wheres the carp there?

They may be claiming to give you maybe 10Megs bandwidth and charging some extra cost. In reality you are probably lucky to receive 2Megs
