Hi.
I'm about 6 weeks into owning a 2006 240 DA - and having a lot of fun doing routine repairs as needed. The latest thing I noticed is the port side cabin window leaking during a recent storm. When looking at the oval shaped window, the only hardware I see are philip head screws on the cabin side. Will removing these screws allow the removal of the window and frame so I can inspect and caulk if needed? Thanks for any feedback. Rich

Hi Rich
I have a 2008 260DA and I also have the same port window leaking. I elected to use a bit of clear silicone caulking on the outside first before breaking the total seal and removal for caulking. I just did that last night and was waiting for the big rain storm today to check it out. Anyway, see if there is a gap on the outside and try caulking that first before removing the entire window.

thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that first when I am out at the marina later today - let me know if it works for you! Rich

Hi Rich:

Well my leaking window is still leaking today after a good rain storm. I elected to give it another layer all the way around the porthole window frame fairly thick this time. I'll wait to see overnight if it leaks again. If no rain....I'll put the hose to it tomorrow and watch for water. I pulled the fridge today and I am sure that's were the water is coming from....that forward port window.
I'll keep you up to date.

I didn't get a chance to seal the window yet - its been raining too much! I did stop by the boat to bail some of the water that continues to leak thorugh the window. I know its the window because I can see the water dripping down from the frame. Sunny sky's tomorrow! I plan to stop after work and seal it up. Rich

A quick follow-up; I took a hard look at the window and realized you can adjust the three pressure tabs that hold the window shut against the rubber seal. Using a regular screwdriver, there is an adjustment on the tabs that increases the pressure against the window. After tightening, I sprayed the window with water and it doesn't seem to be leaking.

RichG and bjac do you have any follow up? I am having the same issue on one of my windows. It appears the water is coming from between the outer frame and the side of the boat because when I tested with a hose just on the glass area, no leaks. When sprayed above window and allowed to run down, water comes inside. Not sure whether to caulk around frame or remove entire window.

I was able to stop the leak by tightening the internal tabs that apply pressure against the window to the rubber seal. Thats the good news. I still occasionally get water on the front cabin floor from somewhere. Many good ideas in this forum on what to check - I just haven't found it yet!
