I'm in the process of switching to LED lights and ran into a snag... does anyone know of an LED bulb which will replace a 6CP bulb? It goes into a courtesy light in the cockpit. I've looked at the various sites and can't find something which says it is a direct replacement. More confusing is there appears to be 2 different 6CP bulbs - one is asocketed one and one is an in-line bulb. The in-line bulb seems to be for a similar light but is typically labeled as a 'transom light'. The Going to WM at lunch to see if they have one which I can compare it to....

Version 2: (which I don't need and can find everywhere)

Thanks Escapade - I tried Superbright and couldn't find an exact match (at least by model number). There isn't much room in there for a larger bulb so may need to just replace the fixture if I can't find something.

Petep - learn something everyday - appreciate the correct terms.

Try; SailorSams.com they have a replacement that may work by IMTRA; Look under the 12volt LED Replacement Bulbs # A7 (I tried to copy a photo of it but it didn't work). Those Bulbs aren't cheap! I ordered my G4 Base Leds from them. Good Luck

Just got back from WM - no bulbs would fit - they were too long to fit into the housing so I bought a new LED fixture. Hella has a nice little courtesy light which is the same size and fit into the same hole - did need new screw holes but not too worried about that.

Mike - keep in mind the bulbs need to be inserted the right way - did you try to reverse it to see if it would work that way? No harm is supposed to come to them if inserted the wrong way, they just wont light up.

I have heard of problems with some of them - some are just not made well. One thing which was interesting was I got the Hella light for $30. If their LED bulb had fit it would have been $34. I did buy some cheapo LED's off eBay and they came in and aren't bright enough for what I wanted but at least they were cheap.
