Hi, I am a new boater.... 2000 SD 240. I am listing starboard, at sea and in my slip. I am low on gas.. but seems odd to me?

The short answer is that means that side is heavier than the other side.
Having said that...The gas tank is in the middle...so take everything thats not nailed down out, if it still lists to one side..then you have a problem and the boat was not designed that way.

I'm not saying this to be a smart ass but in the Flight Engineer world when we trouble shoot a problem we start with basic, switch, circut breaker, bus, component. so here is my question. your not sitting in the boat at the cockpit are you. again not being a wise ass. my boat lists to the port when my wife and son sit in there seats.

Water tank full ?

This was my first thought too. The water tank is on the stbd side and it could cause it to list if it's full.

Do what Groucho said, remove everything not bolted down but also empty the water tank and see if that makes a difference.

When I had a 240 SD I would store the Magma grill in the compartment in front of the helm along with the cooler...with me at the wheel, the grill, a full cooler and a full water tank...it would list.

You won't know until you empty the boat though.

I recommend you to use the trim tabs it must be equipped on your 240SD or you must install them so while listing push the corresponding side button to lower the bow so stern raises up and the boat runs balanced.

I see this is your first post.

Could you please post a photo of your boat?

The reason is we get a lot of newbie’s that think a Sundancer = SD.

A Sun Deck = SD and a Sundancer = DA.

The trouble shooting questions we will be asking you will change with the model.

I just want to confirm we are talking about the right boat here.

This will correct the list while he's underway but it doesn't address the root cause of the problem.

+1
Need to find the root of the problem. Worst case could have some water in the hull. How much is the list?

Batteries are on the port side, to help compensate for the water tank; assuming it's a Sundeck, like Presentation mentioned.

A Sundancer's arrangement will vary depending on optional equipment. Although, typically the batteries will still be on the port side.

But, yes, you're getting some good advice above - start with just the boat.

Ok--- still listing. It is a Dancer, not a deck.... I am a goof I know. I Found that the fuse for my tabs was blown... That will help when I'm underway... Still listing I the slip tho.... Where could water be? Listing quite a bit, a weigh 230lbs and when I stand port it's level. Thank you all for your help!!!

I just figured out my fuse was blown for my trim tabs.... but I also still list in the slip.... weird!!!

Looking over quickly the schematics of the 240DA, It seems right that it would list a bit to the starboard. (Most of seating is on the port). Most single engine boats will lean to one side depending on size of the boat. I think your water and gas tanks are centered. The only thing that might be weighing you down on the starboard is the holding tank. (If equipped).

No aftermarket anything on the boat.

I think I have found a couple of things... I think the boat will list starboard slightly at the dock. Mine was a little more because of water. I found that my cup holder under my throttle had no drain tube and was draining into the side of the hull.

Also, the fuse was out on my trim tabs, so I was unable to correct while underway.

My 270 Dancer lists starboard, as well. It seems at the same degree as mentioned. My 210 lbs, levels everything off when I sit on the port side.. and alone. My water is on the port side and when full it still lists.
