Look what a lot attendant did to our boat

When you go to sell that boat in the future, what do you think a surveyor would find? I would have the boat surveyed now and base your decision on his findings.

To the OP, I’m sorry this happened. So after the marina made the repair you took the boat and used it all summer and now are questioning the repair? Did their repair hold up over summer or is there an issue now? Regardless, good advice above.

That's just it. If you like the boat, keep your eye on it for signs of cracking and/or leaks (assuming under the front berth?). However, for peace of mind and you feel you can justify the cost, get it done correctly. I'd be willing to bet you could reach up there with an ice pick or pocket knife and pop big chunks out of the "repair". That's not that big of job, but, as others have noted, it needs to be faired-out properly to carry the load. That spot takes a pretty good pounding in a boat's lifetime. You don't want to scrimp on the 'glass there.
That’s the issue. It could be that being a relatively small boat he boats on a smaller lake, and if there is a failure he could beach the boat and prevent its sinking. There is no way I would trust that repair in the open waters of Lake Michigan on a rough day 40 miles offshore.

What is a lot attendant? Never heard the concept for boats. Do you flip some guy the keys to dock it for you?
Probably keeps it on rack or trailer with in and out service. Pretty common in West Michigan. You park it and leave for the attendant to put away. Not sure where he boats.

Yup, my last marina had 2 big forklifts, run by what looked like high schools kids in the spring/summer, to drop my boat in the water for me when I called ahead, and then take it back out of the water and to the boatel rack when I returned. They filled it with gas and ice as well. All I did was get on it at the dock, fire up, go, return, get off boat, leave.

It's hard to tell by the pics. Is that flotation foam I see in one of the pics? If so, that is some very serious damage, and in my opinion a vastly insufficient repair. It's not hard to make a repair like that, but it does take a more substantial approach than what I think I see from the pics. I would certainly never want to beach that boat.

And if that is flotation foam, and it got wet, you will likely have structural rot in your future.

I don’t think I could ever be comfortable doing that. Every time I had a boat winter hauled or spring launch I was watching every step.

With the exception of not having the boat in the water full time I absolutely loved it.

Frankly I think we need a lot more information to make an informed determination. Tough to tell from a few photos. I thought that the damage was down to the foam as well. But another picture just shows a pretty good "scape" and then I though maybe they cut out that section and re-fiberglassed. But again, it is hard to tell. Not sure what all the "putty" looks like. So my questions are, what was the damage? Dropped? Dragged? In water? Out of water? Any moisture testing? Etc. Etc.
