I'm looking for an experienced surveyor in the Nashville area - someone with a lot of experience (who can do moisture readings, check the hull, take the oil samples, is experienced with diesels, etc.). Any recommendations? Thanks!

I used John Walker for my last survey. He does a lot of Nashville area surveys. He's SAMS and ABYC. He doesn't do the engine surveys. I had an engine tech named Garry Sago, out of Bowling Green, KY do my engines/genset surveys. John's contact info: 615-883-5600. Email walkmar@comcast.net. Garry's info: 270-320-1691 (cell), 270-320-0249 (work). If you wanted, you could call Erwin Marine here in Nashville, and they may have some other options. 615-824-9099 and ask for Jennifer. I'm guessing you might be looking at that 52DB that Nashville Yacht is handling. Nice boat. I know a little about it. PM me if I can be of any help.

John is great, he has done a couple of surveys for me and has been spot on. last I spoke with him about 6 months ago now, he has retired. It would be worth trying to get him to do your survey if at all possible. Never hurts to try him.

Do not use John Chilton. This guy did a survey on a boat I was selling and blew the deal up with several items that he was totally wrong about. Wet deck, weak starboard engine, stuff like that...I brought experts in and had them go through the entire deck and they couldn't find a wet spot in the deck to save their lives. The starboard engine was compression tested and computer diagnosed by two different Mercruiser certified techs and both found the starboard and port engine to be at 80% or above.

A great diesel surveyor would be Gary Saco with Diesel Pro out of Bowlingreen KY 1-270-320-1691. He will do a full survey and give you the real skinny on everything. He will not just do a visual. He is not cheap. but, very detailed and is an X Military Diesel Mechanic that has been all over the world doing nothing but diesel work.

I hope this helps
Steve

Just re read the post before mine and we both recommended Gary Sago for the survey. Sorry didn't see that in the previous post till I had posted my response.
