Hi All,

The boat is a 2006 200 select with the 5.0mpi V8 and an alpha drive, its got 200 hours on it.

My boat has recently started flashing this fault up for a split second on the LCD display on the rev counter when you initially turn the ignition on, and it hasnt done it yet whilst the engine is running, aside from this there are no other problems.

It sounds to me like an electrical fault somewhere, perhaps a corroded connection, and from googling around Ive found a few other people have had a similar fault, but no descriptions of what was done to fix it.

I'll start looking for corroded connections, but I wondered if anyone on here knows whereabouts in the engine bay the smartcraft instrumentation plugs into the ecu, as I'm betting thats the most likely place to have a corroded connection, as opposed to the dashboard end of things.

I found a wire labelled up as 'can bus' just behind the coil pack and I'm thinking its probably this one I want to look at.

You may want to check your batteries condition. Smartcraft may show fault when voltage drop below safety level. Also unplug and plug back all plugs on smartcraft wiring harnesses (check inside for signs of rust). Bad ground will also show fault, but remember that smartcraft uses -5V reference ground, not "normal" -12V ground.

Thanks for the help.

I think the batteries are fine, there are two of them and they turn the engine over no problem at all, and the volt meter says 12.5v with the engine off and 13.5 with engine running.

Will also look at earths etc.
