We have a 89 340 Sundancer We added a dinghy caddy to our swim platform which is very low to the water line to begin with. I noticed we are stern heavy now with the bow being around 2 inches higher at the water line and platform is about 2" above water. I have empty compartments under the front king bed which I was thinking on adding sand bags to bring the bow down (Ballast) The Dinghy with motor and the stainless steel Caddy weigh around 200lbs. What are your thoughts regarding this idea. 4 sand bags would be around 240 lbs. I realize this era of Sea Ray they did sit stern low from day 1. Thanks for any advice on this matter Steve.

If you’re going to add weight, make it something useful, like batteries or something.

What kind of anchor rode/tackle do you carry? Switching to an all chain rode may help with the ballast and anchoring depending on your location.
All rope my original (Good )Windlass will only work with rope. I think I will try sand bags as it is easy to try and go from there, I realize chain would be heavier but not an option for this 34 year old.

If you have a hundred lbs of tools (or anything else seldom used) aft of amidships, moving it forward to the bow may be all you need.

Hey there Great news on leveling out my 340 Dancer. Added 6 bags (approx 400lbs) of washed 5/8 gravel to front storage compartment under King bed. Boat still has slight bow rise now but lowered bow by 5". Cant believe the difference and less time to get on plane. More positive steering at slow speed and Kitchen sink drains completely now. Rear Swim platform is now higher also. Thanks for the input, Real inexpensive fix around $100.00 Home Depot.
