Looking for different places to possibly move to this year or next. I live in RIC and know I'll get tired of the upper James. One of the members here used to be in Jamestown area in a covered slip. I'm at Jordan Point at the Ben Harrison Bridge and have been up the Appomattox River to Anchor Point and Small Boat Harbor and up the Chick to River's Rest. Pros and cons to all. I would like to be able to get to places that I could drop the hook as well as slip over night without spending a fortune on fuel. As far as I can tell, that doesn't happen until after Williamsburg.

TIA.

Call me 757-784-1350 I'm still in Jamestown.

i really enjoy Smithfield Station, I wish they had covered slips. Ron and his family ran a very nice marina

I keep my boat in smithfield which is downriver from Williamsburg on the Pagan River. We really enjoy Smithfield Station. Protected from storms but close to the Bay and the Hampton Roads area.

Lots to do on the rappahanock as well - we keep ours dry stacked at Garret's marina and run down to Urbanna / Carters creek (tides inn) / deltaville and windmill point to overnight during the summer - 55 minutes from door to boat from my house in Richmond
Went over to York river yacht haven last year for an overnight and really liked it
I would have that on my short list if looking to switch but they don't have a boatel.

Salt Ponds seems to be a decent spot (I was a transient there once), and since it's in Hampton there's no personal property tax. That alone can pay for a large portion of the slip fees. It's the spot I have in mind if I move downriver.

just a thought. Saly Ponds is a long ride during the summer months along 64. Plus for you and I, our boats have been mostly in fresh water (brackish). Have you looked into Deep Creek?

Norview Marina, Deltaville, 1,000 yds from the Chesapeake Bay, covered slips like you want find anywhere else with quite a few Sea Rays and others. Been here 7 years as I looked from Wood Bridge to the Lynn Haven. Out of Richmond at the dock in 1 hour. Quite a few people with Sea Rays here from the Ric. area. From here you can go just about anywhere on the bay you want. Come ob down and check it out. Covered is the only way to go and take care of your investment IMHO. We're headed out for the next year doing the Great Loop and will spend the winter in the Keys but we can connect you with SR people here if you'd like. We don't leave till the 3rd week of May so come on done. 434 981-2212

At this point, I doubt I'd plan on keeping the current boat in salt anyway. Having enough trouble keeping the Bravo III drives intact in fresh water.

Had the distinct pleasure or meeting dwna1a this afternoon. He happily showed my SO & me his marina and all it has to offer. It has everything because it has nothing.

I'll leave it at that. The place is perfect. Quiet. Secluded and covered. Everything I want or need in boating is between 20 minutes & 3 hours of the place vs. 4 and 7 hours of the place. I figure the fuel savings alone will pay for the slip!!! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!

The slip holders work to keep the place "home".

I have a tentative agreement on Slip 10.

Even my my sweetie said "WOW! This place just feels right!"

We are excited.

Thanks shipmate!!

So which marina is this?

Any time! Slip 10, is that the end slip? is that one next to yellow boat?

Just a thought that came up after you left us. That slip gets the summer sun and storms. The other slip only gets the morning sun and is just as deep as mine at low tide and the slip is easier to back into.

Once you are ready to move the boat down we will be happy to help rig your dock lines and I will be happy to meet you outside the hole in the wall to guild you in thru the wall and Sandy Bay.

you missed our resident dock dogs and it's owner. He was asking if you ever got the gov on the GenSet fixed?

We know our marina is old and at this time we have nothing to offer new members but we are a pretty tight group of boaters. We've been know to go out and tow our members in, two weeks ago we refloated a new members boat and found the broken pump and stopped the leak. Hampton Marine had him repaired in two days. We, the boaters babysit the boats and repair the docks. Who else would you really want to do all that?

Welcome David!
