I changed my seawater pump earlier in the week, ran the engine at the dock, and all was good. The same things today warmed up the engines and started moving using the joystick. i typically use the joystick for the first couple of hundred yards. Back up from slip, turn around, and then start moving forward. about 100 yards forward, both engines died. I could only start the port engine and starboard said not enough power. back to dock. I started the engines again in throttle mode. (press the throttle bottom). Both engines started, I heard a loud bang on the starboard side transom. Both engines started with no issues and were able to put into gear (no joystick) while docked forward and reverse with no issues. The minute I touch the joystick, the engines stall (could be either port or starboard). The error on the Smartcraft screen is there is a problem with the Shift controller.

My assumption is the loud bang was the engine in gear when it stalled and was putting the engine back into neutral. I also know that Axius using extra power. Batteries were left charged and had 12.7 v. I changed all 4 batteries last year.

Any clues as to what to do next or what the issue could potentially be?

It sounds like a power issue. It would be helpful to monitor the voltages as you are using the joystick.

Where do I start? I guess I will work from battery connections to fuses. Any writing diagrams here available to share/?

There are manuals on the SR website, but the wiring diagrams are usually pretty basic. I would start by having someone read the battery voltage at the dock while off and not connected to shore power, once started and running, and while using the joy stick. Needs to always be above 12.6 v, or so. Verify that first before going any further.

After many hours of electrical work and testing, I was taking a break at the dock, while another fellow boater asked, why is there a line in the water (starboard transom side lover cleat). I was like oh no!!!!!. well, I pulled the line and it was basically cut, the line was stuck on both propellers!!! cut it off, started engines, and all working with no issues!!!! Joystick had nothing to do with any of it.

Lesson learned. Anytime engines die for no reason, check your line first!
