Just a thought

You think you will be bored and looking at online ads one day and will see your pride and joy listed after 46 year.

Makes me wonder how all my old boats have been cared for over the years and how the 460 will look in 20 years.
I can say the first 21 years of my boat I think she still stands up to when she was new.

I do that every once in awhile with my 1970 Olds W31. Of all the cars I have had that is one I wished I could have back. Last I heard the owner of Nikki Chicago (formerly Nikki Chevrolet), Stefano Bimbi owned it. I sold it about 1991 and he called me around 2013 tracking the history. He had pics up on a website and it was still mint

I wish I had @boatman37's story. When I sold my unmolested Superbee, as I was afraid of, he actually bought it for his kid who promptly sanded off the OE bumblebee stripe, painted it some funky blue-green, and drilled holes through the floor to install some Camaro (!) seats. I try not to think about, dwelling instead on how lucky I am to have gotten the Norton back.

ugh.
I bought mine from the original owner in 1988 with 51,000 miles on it. Still had the original ram air hood, 12 bolt 3.91, factory 4 speed and factory carb that is now worth about $3000. Can't find those carbs anymore and they were a special build (Q-Jet with no primary metering rods). I paid $700 and towed it home and started on it. Sold it 3 years later for $10,000. Now it's worth about $50,000-70,000

Back in the 70's, had a perfect '71 Charger R/T w/ 426 Hemi, 4 spd, Dana 60 w/ 4:10's. Outside was a OEM tan w/ black vinyl roof and OEM R/T stipes. Motor got a loose wrist pin, so did a 60 over 426, balanced, blueprinted it and best of everything was installed. Dyno'd @ 647 HP and 680 Ft LB.m, carbed, on street fuel and exhaust hooked to headers.

Heart sinks when I think what it is worth today. Think they only made 512 that year in that config. (side note: also had a '71 Charger RT w/ 440 six pack / 4speed at same time. Fun times)

Wife and I were on rocks and she convinced me to sell it to her boss, who drooled over it. One month later vinyl roof ripped off, car was painted black like it came from an Earl Scheibe shop and motor was over reved and launched itself. Nearly cried.

I swapped a corvette engine into a Nissan. The guy is racing it now and I see videos of it every once in a while.

Some how a photo of my car ended up on Wikipedia.

it’s the green/blue car under “second generation”. That photo was taken while I owned the car.

Kind of like driving by one of your previous houses, doing a face palm when you see how they messed up all of your work :)
My parents built their first house in 1954 when dad came back from Korea. It’s still immaculate as the day it was built.

We sold our house in Va. and they subdivided the land and put a trailer house on it for the Mom. In the Google maps view there are about 30 vehicles there in various places around the property. Our old neighbors say it is just trashed.

Ugh

I did a ton of beautiful landscaping to my first house. Drove by it recently, all the big trees are gone, all the landscaping has grown over with grass, side porch converted to an addition that looks like a 5 year old did, etc. Neighborhood has become the hood.

Oh well.

You put an LS in a 2nd gen 240sx??? That thing has to be a rocket sled.

I remember in the 80s my sister's friend got a Toyota Supra twin turbo. I drove it back then like I stole. I came back and told her it wasn't safe for her, she couldn't handle it. She laughed. 3 weeks later she totaled it. Got on the throttle too aggressively and spun the car into a bridge abutment. She walked away from it. Anyway, my nick name for that car was "the rocket sled" cause it'd go like a rocket but if it got off the rails you were f'd.

I had a buddy in Pittsburgh that put a 509 BBC in a Ford EXP. It ran 8's on street tires and through mufflers back in the early 90's
