I have three Maretron displays, one 3.5" DSM150, one of there first small displays. It was short lived and only offered for a few years. It was replaced by the DSM410. It has been moved around on my dash and finally lives in my electric panel. It has been like the Energizer bunny. Going on eight years old and has been flawless.

I have had three 410's for have that time and the first one was replaced due to firmware errors. The two that I still have, have had the outer plastic screen come off. These things are supposed to be water proof, this morning on our way back from a trip it stopped working. I left the front window (isinglass) opened last night and it rained getting the 410 wet. Well everything got wet, but this is the only thing that didn't work as a result of that.

Got back to the home port and took it apart. Dumped all the water out of it and dried it out. In taking the beauty ring off the plastic screen fell out. It had little to no glue/sealant on it, no way this is water proof to an degree. See the pic below.

The amazing thing is after it was dried out, I plugged it back in to see if it had any chance of working. It had a lot of water in it, it actually poured out when I opened it up. Enough to not let the display turn on. It was powered on the entire 1.5 hrs back to the slip. Pretty amazing that it powered back up and works fine.

So the issue I have with all of this is, this display list's for $600, it can be found for ~$50 less. This is the second DSM410 that has had this issue. The first time this happened I sent Maretron pic's of how I fixed it, they sent me rubber sun covers for the two displays.

These things are supposed to be waterproof (IP67 rated) and the plastic display screen is only glued in place by what seems to be a few drops of super glue. No rubber seal or sealant. I mean you have to be kidding me, no chance of this being IP67 at all. Very disappointing from a leader in electronics and also a $600 display.

Now I am fixing my second display myself. Very disappointed in this company.

I'd call them, I had a DSM410 delaminate, they sent a new one.

Last time this happened they only offered to fix it. From personal experience getting them to replace anything is not an easy task any more. Since they were bought by Carling and now Little Fuse, they are not handling things as they use too.

Uh oh... Squeeky wheel maybe?

Yeah I don't know. I was more then a squeaky wheel with the MPower thing that was over a year long. And it took months to get anywhere and the end result was being ignored until I asked for a refund. Which I still have not received to date.

Unfortunately, they are about the only game in town when it come to EGT...

Yep, I wasn't saying not buy/use them, just what you may be in for. I still like Maretron and will use them for other things. It's just the cost of the display and seeing how it is assembled is disappointing at best. This display is already fixed and ready to be put back it. Thanks to a little JB Weld.

That might be better than new!
