Based on the last 6 months experiences with our marina "csr" (more like bossy, one way ($$$) biatch), I will be starting the hunt for a new marina next week. Looking south of Savannah toward Brunswick, Ga. Two next week, Half Moon and Brunswick.
Hate to leave this one as we like the marina and location. Just not the freaking drama I have to endure seems like most every visit nowadays. She was a new employee a few years back and has been slowly asserting herself to the point where she thinks she runs the whole place. Has pissed of a bunch of folks in the last year.

Heard a saying from David Webb the other day, " Money goes where it is treated well, and stays where it is welcome". Could not be more applicable to me at this time.

If anyone has had some good experiences in that area, would be interested in suggestions.

Thanks

Not from around there so very limited experience, but if I wanted to put my boat someplace in Brunswick, I’d start at Brunswick Landing.
It’s up the river a bit so might take a little bit to get to your fishing spots, but considered kind of a hurricane hole. Super friendly people, diesel pumps, and free beer. Seriously, there’s a tap in the clubhouse. Available anytime as I remember. Free wine was available 2 days per week at docktail time too. What else could you want? :)
Good luck in your search.

Brunswick Landing doesn't seem to have a great reputation, these days. Something about being in a rough part of town. Haven't been there, though, so that's just hearsay.

We've stayed several times at the Morningstar Golden Isles Marina on St. Simons Island, and we think that's a very nice place. Completely rebuilt over the last few preceding years, new docks, pedestals, etc. Possibly expensive.

Closer to Savannah, we've stayed at Thunderbolt several times over the decades, and Bahia Bleu once this last trip. Both OK, maybe not particularly great as a home marina.

I agree, Thunderbolt is more for transients. we like it because it has a loaner car for transients to make provision runs. 2 hr max but we would usually hook up with another transient couple and get it for 4 hours to go into Savannah. Morningstar is nice, and there is a decent restaurant on site, but if your slip is out toward the outside, I remember the tidal current there being quite strong.

I'm actually in Thunderbolt across the river from Hinkleys and in sight of both Thunderbolt and Bahia Bleu. I agree, not "home" type marinas. And yes, strong currents and 8' tides. Brunswick landing is the one we're looking at there, Half Moon is up toward Savannah. I spoke with Kevin, one of the owners of Half Moon last week, he seemed genuine. Won't be a rush decision though. Want to exercise due dilligence for this next one.

I run that route a lot. South of Thunderbolt have a few choices. Isle of Hope Marina, Morningstar Golden Isle, Brunswick Landing and Jekyll Island Marina. There are a couple of rustic overnight marinas in Kilkenny and Sunbury but not long term stay places.

For me it would be Golden Isle. Short 3 mile bike ride into a cool town.
