Marine ignition coil

Is a coil a coil on an 89 5.7 or is there marine rated coil? I try to keep marine ratings on the parts I put on it?

We thought if would be funner to switch to a 400 EC. next week. LOL Just keeping this one up till we get the new or new to us boat. It wasnt running right last weekend so I opened the hatch and there was a spark jumping across the coil wire to one of the small wires. The top of the coil looked a little discolored so I am going to change out the coil and coil wires on both motors.

Just be sure to get the proper one. They come in 2 styles. With or with out external resistor.
