Masters Week

My grandfather had tickets, looking at one of my old badges from 1982 - $60 for all four days. We had two tickets for years. As I recall when my grandfather died, they would not transfer the tickets to someone else in the family. I went off and on a few times since through work tickets etc., but I have not been in years. I had an older brother (he did in his 20's) and was 8hrs older than me. He was almost an identical twin for Tom Kite - uncanny how close they looked. One year we go to the masters and my brother has the same shirt as Tom Kite on (this was before the pro's were covered up with sponsors). He was also a Tom Kite fan, so we catch up to him and standing there on one of the Tee's Tom Kite takes a double take at my brother. Hit's his Tee shot then comes over and talks with us - a memorable day!
If you are a golf fan, a day at the Masters is just a must - you just can't begin to understand what it is like from TV. The course and grounds, I mean every inch of it is manicured unbelievably. The hills on 9, 10 and 14 for example are much larger than what you think. The greens, no where near as flat as they seem on TV. The scoreboards, still done manually, people inside them changing the numbers. And egg salad and pimento cheese sandwiches for a couple of bucks. It's just a timeless place like no other.

So how about Matsuyama's Masters dinner. Wow! I've had that beef once on the Silver Seas cruise. It's hard to describe how good it is.

I had it once at a Japanese restaurant where the chef cooks in front of you. At first I thought it was a shame to have a steak fried on a stainless flat surface and then cut up into small bite sized pieces. Then I popped the first piece into my mouth. OMG. Beef butter balls is how I would describe it.

The only thing I have had where I had the same first bite reaction was seared foie gras in a pintxos bar (Torrecilla) on Calle Laurel in Logrono, Spain. Other-worldly good. As they say, fat is flavor.

If I stumbled on her, it would take a while to get me off of her!
That's a strong woman, it wouldn't take her but a second to get you off her.:D I almost left the word "her" off the end of that sentence, but realized that the sentence would have vastly different meaning without it.

I love the masters. I don't watch as much golf as I used to but I always try to watch the majors.

Phil has always been my favorite. I didn't think he'd miss this; wonder if it was his decision or the powers that be at augusta

Thanks -- I try :D

I watch the second nine most years on sturday and sunday on the boat or in the clubhouse at the marina,at least if its raining up here and the boatnis in the water ,not this year though.Just had a custom fitting for a new set of taylormade stealth irons friday ,it will take a month to build them as some components are not made yet. I will have to start leagues with my 20 year old pings and hope for the best. I certainly dont hit them as long as i used to but the new clubs helped a lot with that.I play saturday mornings with a couple guys at the marina my dock neighbor is a 4 handicap at 72 yrs old, mabey this is the year i can keep up to him.

I thought the masters was pretty good this year…. 18th, Amen corner today kicked some butt :D:D
It was great to watch. I have a "cheer for the underdog" issue, so I was really hoping for a huge come from behind to make it a game. It didn't happen in the end, but that is OK.

I was a bit surprised with the amount of coverage of McIlroy over the day since he was on an absolute tear, but he was not close enough to win. Pretty impressed with Tiger overall. I thought his putting would be the one thing he would do well. Turns out it was not.

I also was hoping for more coverage of Corey Connors as the top Canadian. He finished in 6th so not too bad. But there was absolutely zero coverage of him. Even on Saturday when he was paired with Smith and had the same score as Smith through much of the day. But Smith was more favored.

Anyway, time to get the clubs dusted off and get ready for the season. Or maybe buff the boat.

I'm happy for Sheffler. Also happy for McIlroy putting a great final round together. I was rooting against Smith. I hate anyone that wears those stupid oversized flat brims.... They scream dork....to me, anyway.
And the mullet.
