My grandfather had tickets, looking at one of my old badges from 1982 - $60 for all four days. We had two tickets for years. As I recall when my grandfather died, they would not transfer the tickets to someone else in the family. I went off and on a few times since through work tickets etc., but I have not been in years. I had an older brother (he did in his 20's) and was 8hrs older than me. He was almost an identical twin for Tom Kite - uncanny how close they looked. One year we go to the masters and my brother has the same shirt as Tom Kite on (this was before the pro's were covered up with sponsors). He was also a Tom Kite fan, so we catch up to him and standing there on one of the Tee's Tom Kite takes a double take at my brother. Hit's his Tee shot then comes over and talks with us - a memorable day!
If you are a golf fan, a day at the Masters is just a must - you just can't begin to understand what it is like from TV. The course and grounds, I mean every inch of it is manicured unbelievably. The hills on 9, 10 and 14 for example are much larger than what you think. The greens, no where near as flat as they seem on TV. The scoreboards, still done manually, people inside them changing the numbers. And egg salad and pimento cheese sandwiches for a couple of bucks. It's just a timeless place like no other.
