Mercathode electrode question

Can anybody confirm if the round disc in the second picture is part of the mercathode system?

I know the coil of wire I'm pointing at in the first picture is an electrode but I am unsure about the disc

I don't see the coil of wire in the first image, but the second image; yes, that round disc is the electrode proper.

It’s there, it basically is a small oval of wire. It was painted over on my original transom assembly which is why I need to have my drive stripped and etched now.

When I painted the drive after the new transom assembly I taped it and the coil off to be safe. Wasn’t sure but wanted to err on the side of caution.

I’ll be specifically instructing the yard to paint neither. Can’t take it for granted that they all know. Supposedly a merc dealer painted the electrode on mine for the po in the spring before I purchased it
