Gents,,
Was running along fine today. Stopped to top off the fuel and grab some lunch at a marina. Got back in boat and she started fine. We got under way and I noticed none of my gauges were working. I have a 350Mag MPI w/ the mercruiser smartcraft system. Only gauge that worked was my tach. My LED display screen was stuck in depth mode, and was froze. I stopped. turned engine off, then recranked. Still no gauges. My oil psi, water temp, fuel, trim level, and so on did not read. I noticed when I recranked all the gauges went to 0 but never moved again. Unfortunatly I was 15 miles from my boat ramp. Made it back w/ no issues, and got it on the drive way. I flushed engine w/ no problem, but still no gauges. I looked under the dash for a loose wire and also looked at all my circuit breakers. Any ideas or hints on this one... I will be taking in for other warranty work later this week, buit would just like to have an idea whats wrong...
Thanks

check for any loose harness connections under dash and in engine room
best way is to unplug it an plug it back, to be sure that is fully in.

Hey there Texas:

I had the same problem last year after taking delivery of my new 260DA. I started her up one morning, pulled away from the dock out into the channel, looked down and ........no gauges. I idled back, shut everything off waited a minute or so and when I started back up instead of going straight from off to start mode with the key, I paused for that 3 second beep that checks all systems. I watched the gauges and after the beep subsided maybe 1-2 seconds later the gauges all came up. I then turned the key further to actually start the engine and all was fine. I had this happen 2-3 times later before my first inspection by the mobile team that checks up on warranty issues. When they came by, of course they could not re-produce the problem. Each time no matter how they started the engine, all gauges came up. No explanation. So now I simply turn the key on, wait that 2-4 seconds for the beeping to stop (which by the way is what the manual tells you to do) then turn her over. So far no re-occurrence of the failed gauge syndrome. Hope this helps.

I do the same turn the key to on wait for the beep and smart craft to start up then start the boat. From what I have seen on my boat if you go to fast or turn off and back on to fast the smart craft gets like out of sync or something.

Hi there if you turn all your power off using the battery switch then wait 20 seconds then switch it back on then go into calibration mode on gauges read your manual and it will tell you how to calibrate. Happens to me all the time. Smartcraft gauges are very tempermental. They are ment for racing boats to pick up every fault. Hope this helps. Cheers yo yo.

Found the problem,, It was a loose ground on one of my battery posts. Tightened it and all seemed OK. Ran the boat a bit this evening and all was OK..
Still headed in for minor warranty work before the season really gets cranking..
