So something has been bugging me for a while, but I keep forgetting to ask about it here. On my switch panel in the lower right corner is a switch marked "accessory" that lights when I select it, but as far as I can tell, nothing else happens.
Does anybody else have a functional accessory switch and know exactly what accessory it operates?

On our boat, we had that switch hooked up to some underwater LED lights. That is all it is used for on ours.

I rather suspected as much. But since I don't have a bilge light and that spot has a blanking plate, I've been trying to figure out why there would be a switch in the accessory spot when (as far as I know) I don't have an accessory.
Just one of life's little mysteries!
By the way, welcome to clubsearay!

Back in the day SR did not pack boats with options, they were often "dealer added options". The switch was in place for later options.

So.....apparantly the water pump stopped working, overheated the engine and cooked lots of stuff in the outdrive, and also burned through the hydraulic line and the throttle cable. Lesson learned. Repairs are ongoing at the boat shop and will probably be around 2 grand. My boat guy recommended that I replace the pump every 2 years at a cost of about $300 installed, and this would ensure this doesn't happen again. Whatcha gonna do.

Never realized the water pump was so fragile.

Neither did I. Not sure if it's the Vegas heat or what, but I'm thinking a $300 investment every 2 years is much better than 2 Grand lol.

Can't disagree with that! Mine is probably five years or more old. I'm going to have to look into this a bit further. I'll be having the bellows and trim gauges replaced this coming off season. I may have to add the water pump to that list, too.

The exhaust fan in the head inexplicably quit working. I did clean a wasp nest out of the vent cover, but it wasn't very deep so I doubt it was the cause. It doesn't appear that there is any power at the switch, but I am unable to locate a fuse or breaker or any power source.
Anybody with experience with this that can help?

    TIA

I checked the wiring diagram and can't even find the fan on there. Found the Head dome light but thats it.

Thanks for looking. I’m pretty much at a dead end on this one. The only other item I have that doesn’t work is the Bennett auto trim adjuster. Somebody has jury rigged the wiring for some reason so I have to figure out how (and maybe why) and put that right. Would sure be easier if I were a bit smaller!
FWIW I asked my mechanic about replacing the water pump every two years. He said that was normal and I should plan on it too.

Noticed that I could use some new wiper blades. The existing blades are ANCO 16". I found some on Amazon, but they are reportedly 8mm wide (ANCO U-16R) and I measure the ones on the boat as 16mm wide.
Has anybody found a source for refills that fit?

The water pump is mounted top and center of the engine just in front of the breather cover. You are thinking about the impeller I believe.

I have a Bravo II. Maybe it is the impeller and water pump i'm not sure. All i know is I melted a lot of stuff up in the outdrive and also the throttle cable and hydraulic line. I'm sure most of the cost is labor but Im no mechanic lol. He also has to check the compression on the engine to make sure I didn't damage that.

I don't even have mine installed since I'm pretty much a fair weather boater and the spray doesn't bother me. Someone suggested www.directbus.com for heavy duty wipers. Or a trucking supply store. Also https://www.defender.com/category.jsp?id=2290234&path=-1|7504|2290232 looks like they have a good selection.

Thanks for the links. After looking at the prices of these things, I decided mine are fine for now. :D

What's the status of your repairs, Mike?

Well, the overheat problem was caused by a bad impeller/water pump. Everything overheated, and melted all the rubbers, cable and hydraulic line. $3000 later, all is new and right with the world. I think I'm going to be putting her up for sale, as I just don't use it as much as I thought i would. If you know anyone interested, let me know. I'll even deliver if it's not on the east coast lol.

A realistic assessment of what I have caused me to decide to keep this boat. It’s not the fanciest at the marina, but is dead reliable and cleans up purty.
