A couple weeks ago before we took delivery, I asked for advice about whether to buy these, and got positive feedback on using them.
So, I went looking, and wouldn't you know it, I was fortunate enough to find a pair of the size my boat calls for, the 16' whips, for sale on Craigslist, complete with mounting brackets for the dock. No lines, but that's easy enough to replace and I am sure I'd want fresh line anyway.
The problem is, the guy I got them from bought them from the original owner who was selling his home, and then he discovered they were too long for his boat, which was only 18'. So he never installed them and didn't know how, had planned on asking friends for help. Instead, he sold them, and here we are.
I don't know how to install them either! I can't find ANYTHING on-line for installation instruction and I'd like to get them put into use this weekend while at the "boat house".
Do any of our members have any know-how regarding these whips? I know it should be simple, but I have NEVER used mooring whips and have no clue how to install them and how to use them once they ARE installed.
Any installation advice you guys can provide would be MUCH appreciated, as well as how to set them up and use them once installed.
