Now the fresh water topic. Awhile back I noticed that the fresh water indication was full, I thought maybe the MM service man filled the tank. Today I noticed the fresh water pump would not stop cycling and the pressure from the anchor locker hose was very low...and the cockpit facuet output has air. My guess is the fresh water tank is really empty, even though it indicates full. Is this possible? Tomorrow I'll try and fill the tank, half at first and see if the indicator follows the fill level. Anyone seen this condition?

Thanks,

Mike

you're MT. if the pump keeps running and you're sputtering air, ya got nothing in the tank. fill er up a bit and see what the indicator says. might solve the prob.

shoot, makes me want to run down to the boat right now and check things!

Either that or your pump was left on with a dry tank and your pump head was ruined...

good point. shutting down the fresh water system when you leave the boat should be on everyone's departure checklist for just such a reason.

Thanks, but I don't leave the TV, stereo, pump or head power on when I leave the boat just in case something happens. So hopefully the pump isn't fried, I didn't let it run more than a couple minutes.

Before my boat was a year old my pressure switch went bad in my pump and even though the tank had plenty of water in it the pump would not turn off. The pump had to be repalced because apparently those switches are not servicable.

I had a similar problem last year.
In my case, after a lot of frustrating troubleshooting ( and a pressure water system is pretty easy to troubleshoot), I finally figured out that the plastic cover on the strainer before the pump had developed a hairline crack. Just big enough so that when the pump developed a vacuum it would pull air through that crack instead of water from the tank.

Assuming you do have water in the tank, sight the strainer to be sure it's not sucking air.
Otherwise I'd get a rebuild kit or replace the pump.

The water tank was empty. I filled it part way and it still indicates full. Good news is the water pump is fine and works normal. Now I've got to get MM to fix the water sensor.
