Now for the important topics. What would others suggest are the top 5 or 10 martinis and do you have any recipes. The Admiral is now turned on to various flavoured martinis and I want to make sure boat is propery provisioned. For me its a dirty glass and a bottle of Tanqueray olives and ice. But after a few of those the Admiral is no where to be found until I 'thaw' out.

Bombay Sapphire gin and Noily Prat (might be a spelling issue here) vermouth (1 or 2 drops) garnished with an olive. Served up in a chilled martini glass.....(shaken or stirred...makes no difference.) Never on the rocks......

All the other so called martinis...chocolate, and apple, and banana., and what ever...are not martini's.....Vodka is an almost acceptabe substitute for gin but not really !!!

Too early to start but 5 o'clock will be here soon enough...Happy New Year !!!

My girlfriend likes the appletini's I make for her, equal parts of Vodka, and Dekuyper Sour Apple Pucker. (we tried a couple other brands, and she didn't like them as well.)

If you talk "flavored martinis" mostly for the ladies, Hypnotic is pretty good.

did you ever see the episode of king of queens and regarding Carrie and the Martini's? Makes me wonder about your intent?

My wife likes the apple martini's. Also likes cosmo's which could be consider in the same class as what you're talking about.

Actually, I'm interested in other mixed drink recipes, what are your fav's?

I like Marguaritas 1/3 Countreau, 1/3 Tequila (1800 Cuervo), 1/3 Lime juice.

I'm looking for a good Pina Colada mix, but haven't found one yet.

One of my favorites is called a Shetter - 1/2 Bombay Sapphire Gin, 1/2 Absolute Vodka with freshly stuffed Blue Cheese Olives- Shaken.

Second would be Hanger 1 Vodka with a lime twist.

But, I would make sure all lines are tied up before enjoying either of these fine cocktails. ;)

For your wife, a Lemon Drop might be a possibility. I use frozen lemon juice concentrate with Absolute.
Enjoy!

Here's an interesting one: Put a bottle of genever (Dutch gin) in the freezer for a while to get it really cold. Pour into a martini glass. Float a little vermouth on top, pouring it very carefully so it doesn't mix with the genever. Sip slowly.

And if you're intent is to get your wife or GF buzzed quickly, forget the martini and make a grain punch. One mix we used was developed by a professor of chemistry at the University of the South, Guenther's Punch: into a one gallon punch bowl, pour one fifth PGA, add one #10 can pineapple juice, 16 oz. frozen limeade concentrate, and fill to gallon level with ice and water, then stir. For a party, float a block of dry ice in it and serve under a black light; the CO2 vapor should glow a phospherescent green!

The admiral and her sister like lemon drop martinis made like this. Simple, and only requires me to haul 2 bottles to the boat.

Sorry man, Just get me a 7 & 7 and a Disaronno shot. Just keep the glasses full.

Dirty Vodka Martini.....

(tell your bartender, Dirty Goose Up, 2 olives !!)

shaker full of ice
fill half full with Vodka (Grey Goose)
approx 1-2 teaspoons olive juice
2-3 spritz of vermouth (i use a mister)
shake well
pour into chilled martini glass (i mist the glass w/vermouth)
add 2 olives

Enjoy !!!

It's not a martini one, but goes good with the holiday.
Happy New Year

1/4 oz brandy
3/4 oz ruby port
3/4 oz orange juice
4 oz Champagne
Shake brandy, port and orange juice well over ice cubes in a shaker. Strain into a champagne flute, fill with champagne, and serve.

Here is a site that we like a lot...http://www.drinksmixer.com/
have her try the French martini my wife loves that one.

Not to get away from the subject. I love gin martins. Our family has a favorite: put a fifth of Crown Royal in the freezer and has straight shots at midnight New Year Eve,

re: looking for a good pina colada mix,

On the cruise we were on a cpl yrs ago, they had this pina colada mix in a qt carton that was delicious! Not sure what it was, maybe coconut cream or something similar, they were also using capt morgan spiced rum with it. Wish I could find that mix.
