My sidekick and companion, Samson, had to have emergency surgery on Friday to drain fluid that was surrounding his heart. This appears to have been caused by some sort of inflammation in the sac surrounding the heart as opposed to a mass or some type of cancer. Tissue samples are out for testing but we should know something later on this week. Picked him up from the vet this afternoon and he was full of energy and ready to get home.

Weird, all I see is xxx but the quote shows your post...

Glad he is feeling better.

Windjammer, that is one beautiful shepherd. I hope whatever he had was a fluke and he's well on his way to a full recovery.

Wish him the best...

I know I complain about my rottie a lot but when we lost her for 24 hours (jumped out of the truck on the way to the marina) I nearly lost my mind. A month prior she got really sick during a short stay at a kennel and I told them no matter the cost to just make sure she was okay.

It seems like pets are taken for granted until you feel the stress of possibly bei NH without them. They truly are family members...

Great looking dog. I hope he recovers fully.

Glad he is doing well, he is a beautiful dog. Hope he fully recovers and can keep going for a lot of boat rides!

It is amazing how much they become part of our lives. Hope he recovers fully.

Mine on the other hand seems to have an issue with the month of October. He always manages to do something in this month to get a trip to the vet. Last year it took until June of this year to get him back to full health. The vet is going to name a wing after him.

Beautiful dog, hope he recovers fully soon.

Prayers for a full recovery for Samson. We lost a dog several years ago due to fluid buildup around the heart, but his diagnosis was hemangiosarcoma.

Looks a bit like my Shepard, Tinkerbelle.
Great breed, great dog!! Hope he does well.

Beautiful dog hope he has a full recovery and long life. We've had many Shepherds both black & tan and black keep a close I on him it's in the survival gene not to show any signs of weakness , always an alpha not wanting to lose their place. I still get tears just thinking about our many memories with all of them. They are mans best friend for a reason you can see in his smile how happy he is to be yours.
