The stand alone WAECO Coolmatic model RPF-50 freezer in the cabin of my 420 Sundancer is apparently on the fritz and needs to be replaced. It has a wood veneer front panel that matchs the stand alone refrigerator next to it and the cabinets of the boat. So it looks like I'll need to go with the same unit if I want everything to match perfectly.

Can anyone give me some guidance on where I can purchase a replacement. I see a stainless model on the web but I assume I can put my wood panel over the top of that. Or if I could find a stainless panel for the refrigerator I'd go that direction since that's what Sea Ray did in '06 anyway.

Come on now. SOMEONE must of had to replace their freezer since 2003-2007 or I'm the most unlucky of all 420 owners. Or if you've replaced your refrigerator tell me where you got that.

I'm having the exact same issue- company was purchased soon after they stopped manufacturing that unit. Did you ever solve your problem? If so what did you do?

A company named Nautical Air in farmingdale, ny used to handle this unit (they were a Dometic rep who I think is part of WAECO, or vice versa). I had an issue where mine would no longer hold temp in 2012 and they were able to get the unit at that time - problem was they wanted full list price which was VERY expensive - memory says they wanted like 1800 for it. I wound up finding it at a former distributor based in Miami who had one in stock and shipped it to me for around 1200 or so. Good luck...

My coolmatic freezer RSF-115 just went out. No parts available and not made anymore. A RV repair could not fix it but found a company that had 3 in stock @ about 2K del. I decided not to buy a new unit that had not parts available. There is an option I was offered by the RV repair, they could have used the old freezer and added a compressor unit and plates to make a new freezer, however they could not realistically grantee how well it will work. I went with an Isotrem 65 freezer. It is one third smaller but will work out better. The Isotrem that was about the same size as the old coolmatic, was of corse to tall by 1". I will build a face plate to accommodate the smaller unit. Mine is behind a cherry wood door, so matching the freezer with the old fridge is not a big issue. Defender had the best price.
I hope this might be of help.
