Hi - this is my first post on here so please bear with me.

I have a 2005 280/315 sundancer and the problem I have been experiencing is one of the previous owners has messed around with the electrics.
The clarion stereo is wired up to the amplifier switch on the breaker board and the pink wire it should be wired to is just taped off.

Do you have to have the ignition on to use the stereo as you would in a car? As when I have tested the pink wire there is no voltage going to it.

I am asking this before I start to go and take the breaker box under the helm apart.

Many Thanks in advance

Jon

House battery switch on, Speaker button on right hand helm pad on, should get it going. Stock amp ? My stock setup has nothing connected to that amp breaker

Thank you Scoflaw - I will check when I get to the boat - I have looked in the owners manual at the stb helm pad but don't recall seeing the same layout I.e in the manual the depth sounder has a "depth sounder" button where as on my boat the depth sounder is run on the Acc 1 button - maybe acc2 button could be the power button for the stereo.

Thanks again will update when I know more

Jon

On the 280 the stereo and amplifier are on two separate circuits. The switch on the helm turns on the radio/stereo head and powers the cabin speakers. The stereo amplifier rocker breaker switch on the main DC board powers the amp and cockpit speakers.

Hi Henry - Thank you for your reply - I found that a previous owner has tampered with the electrics and he wired the stereo to the power amp which in turn all the speakers are on.

I want to get it back to Original but on my helm there is no button for the stereo and I am now thinking it is an accessory button on the helm so will investigate further.

Many thanks as this Re enforces what Scoflaw has said

speaker switch on the starboard helm pad is on the top right and looks like a pic of a speaker. Then you also have a control to the lower left of the wheel that may be in the mute mode, so look at that as well. Doubtful that he wired it to an acc. switch.

As an update - The button is on the stb helm pad and the stereo is now wired up correctly happy days.

Many thanks for your help
Jon
