I've been fortunate to have thus far avoided storms in my Sea Ray. I'm writing a mystery novel, "The Queen of Atlantic City." The hero is on a Sea Ray 42 between Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach a few miles off shore when a line of squalls hit, complete with lightening. Aside from lowering his antenna and trying to avoid touching metal, what would he do to avoid a lightening strike? What range of speed would be best for cresting waves without crashing straight down into the next one, if the waves are about six feet high? Feel free to add more information. Many Thanks.
