Surprised he didn't still have escorts from New London that would have gotten very testy if you came to close to him.

Escorts were picking him up at some point soon. Chatter on vhf indicated they would be escorted into the Thames

Groton is right up the road. Surprised you don't see those often.
 
I had a close encounter with one a couple of years ago. Picture was taken from my buddies boat we were running with. I thought they would be screaming at me but never heard anything from them. Of course they were probably listening in and laughing as I was crapping my pants.

We have them transiting to from the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station frequently. CG escorts always keep us at least 500 yards away. I spent 9 years under water while on active duty so not curious about getting too close anyway.
