One of my wifes coworkers asked her why there were so many 'marks' on her car. The marks were quite heavy on the back and sides of the car. Looked like somebody had been rubbing at the road grime, the marks were sort of cleaner looking. Some marks were small, kinda round, some were long, some were horizontal, some vertical, and some any ol'way.

This morning before leaving for work she happened to look out the window. There were a couple deer out there licking on her car.

So we figured it out. The car is still getting some road salt grime on it from winter...the deer were licking the salt.

That may be a potential wildlife violation in some states.

My brother in law got a winter visit from the sheriff when he was a teenager. While they were inside talking a neighbor's goat ate all of the decals and rubber trim off the car, which was covered in salt.

Animals are funny sometimes.

I had (and lost) a standoff with a huge Tom turkey last week right in my driveway.

I used to feed deer pretty heavily and put out salt blocks. There'd be hundreds around in the winter time. Had to stop that years ago because of CWD. I think I'll get some salt blocks anyway and put them in the woods. Apparently the deer want/need it, they even go in my woodshed and paw/lick the ground in the area where I used to store the extra blocks years ago.

About a week ago I heard a 'knockin' noise. I thought someone was at the door. It was a turkey banging on the window. He must of saw his reflection in the window. I don't if he was trying to run off the other turkey or not, they're breeding about now up here, maybe he was horny.:p

I used to like deer until I got Lyme disease bad

We have wild turkeys everywhere. They travel in a posse of 15-20. When they go to cross the road (single file of course) people stop and wait .... sometimes up to 5 mins for the whole lot.

I had one land on the roof of the house once

They sleep high up in the trees next to our property. Once in a while at dusk, you see them lined up in the front yard. One by one they get a running start, go airborne and fly up to the top of the trees.

Funny how the Lymes disease/ticks are. My buddy lives on the other side of the Wisconsin River from me, 5 miles as the crow flies. The deer over there were loaded with the little ticks but not the deer on my side. I had went to his place to help process a deer. We brought it into his basement and hung it. He put a large piece of white freezer paper under it and said watch what happens. We let it hang a couple hours, when we checked later there were hundreds of those tiny ticks on the paper.

I haven't shot a deer in 15yrs, hunting doesn't interest me much anymore, maybe the ticks are on my side of the river now too.

I remember 50-60yrs ago turkeys were only in southern WI. The experts said they'd never get to the northern part of the state, winters were to harsh they said. Little by little they spread north, they're everywhere now, even in the UP MI. I don't see anything wrong with it, except that they eat a lot of the same things as deer. The turkeys can go in the oaks and clean out the acorns, I wonder what impact that has on the deer herd. In my area we do not have the deer we used to, don't know if that can all be blamed on the turkeys though.

Raven licks the coaring off Doritos and Fritos. Then we have to trash the soggy bland chips. We buy a lot of Doritos and Fritos. Thats her head deep in a bag.

We are on the edge of nowhere and our county used to send sharp shooters to thin out the heard. Since Covid that stopped and the deer just got into the front beds and ate the tulip bulbs. Bastards, I move into their territory and they think we are feeding them.

The deer trim the bushes at our house….. my wife loses her mind….. if you're cute and furry and you come on our property she will kill you ….. I have to shave everyday :)

My son used to date the game wardens daughter, her dad would often drive her out to our place and drop her off. I had to be careful what I did in the yard sometimes. I learned to ask him if she was coming over or not.:D
