New battery, turn key = tick tick tick, eventually starts

Hi,

I have a 93 SkiRay Spitfire 185 (the blue one) with the MerCruiser Tournament 350 engine and over the weekend we started it for the first time since August 2020.

When I turn the key, it goes tick tick tick, etc... I have to do this 5-6 times and then it starts.

Any suggestions? The battery is new and the terminals are clean and connected tightly. The gauges show 12v when the key is turned 1 spot.

Starter. Worthwhile to check those connections before replacing, though.

Check the connections.

Just remove and clean the connections is all that can be done to these newer starters. Not like in the good ol days when you could remove the back cover and clean the copper washer and it was like new again for some time. Oh crap! Did I just date myself?
