How much would i spend living in the north east from May to September ( 5 Months ) on owning my first Sea ray 1999 270 Sundancer 7.4 Merc….The wife needs to know ! Please help
Total please

Well I have my boat in Stamford, CT also in the northeast and it isn't cheap. At our yacht club we pay $48 a foot just for our slip which is considered a bargain. On top of that you're looking at winter storage costs, winterizing costs, maintenance costs, gasoline costs... and more. The list goes on for what seems like forever. I would estimate we spend around 6-7k a year with fuel included. Hope this helps!

Way too many variables to guess at. Are you going to slip at a marina? Which one? You need to know cost per foot, electric, etc,, trailer and tow? Well, cost of ownership will include boat payment if any, insurance, maintenance (one engine or two, generator? Your DIY ability or desire), anticipated use will dictate fuel cost,,,, again way too many variables to guess at

Total cost of ownership??

Varies greatly between exactly where and how much you use the boat.

You need to define your question and you'll get better answers.

Mark.

I will basically have a 270 sea ray sun dancer in NYC….Marina slip from May to september I'll won't be moving around a lot Just enjoying the outdoors… I won't have payments just maintaining the boat…winterizing at the end of summer plus storage ( shrink wrap )

It helps and thank you…Even if i try to cut corners i figure around 5 k a year @ best for a single engine 270 sun dancer

So from May1st to October 1st 70.00 per foot for my 270 Sea Ray……Winter storage 35.00 a foot… 2000.00 for Emergency repairs….600-700 insurance 5.00 per gallon for 100 gallon tank maybe 3 times for the summer ..We talking maybe 6-7k a year like you mentioned before Thank u all

Haul out, launching, and servicing are gonna set ya back a bit too.

if you are going to live on the boat that is a small boat we had a 28 footer with upper and lower helms. We used it about 6 weeks a year. Three weeks at once was about as long as we could take. One week was good. It burn 1 Liter (quart to US people) a minute at 22 knots. We spent 3 thousand a year for maitenance and hull painting.

It also depends on whether you're going to take her on the boat with you :) it gets a lot more expensive then.........

Good estimate near NYC, for a 270, would $10K
Slip: $4K
Fuel: $2k
Maintenance: $1-3K
Winter Storage and Winterization: $2K

Tell your wife a boat cost less than a Mistress...

My TCO this year was around 14,000. That did include new canvas which was almost 6k though.

Emergency repairs?.... I've put half the cost of a new motor aside, but that's just me.

I am in Milford Ct
Just sold my 290 7.4 ( 30 feet)
Slip 75.00 per foot min. can be up to 125.00 per foot, all depends which marina your at = 3000.00
winter storage 40.00 per ft = 1200.00
DIY winter prep 790.00 (oil change 90.00 / anti freeze 50.00 / outdrive prep 50.00 /shinkwrap 20.00 per foot- 600.00

spring prep about 850.00
cleaning stuff 250.00
wash and wax 200.00
paint bottom 300.00
zinc's 100.00

plus all the OTHER stuff you are going to buy for the boat add a few more grand

then add in your fuel , I put on 100 hrs and spend about 3000.00 in gas
plus slip fee's for the places your going to go

I'd say 12,000.00 per year

and for some odd reason I bought a bigger boat

Here is mine on a very conservative estimate for a 2001 340. I did the primary numbers and wanted to cringe........ borken down by annual cost of JUST OWNING HER:

Annual cost
Wet slip: $3465.95
Insurance: $676.00
Property tax: $1550+-
Winterizing: $700.00 (with fuel fill up) $225 +- without (Done your self)
Payment: $7056 ($588 month x12)
maintenance +-$500 per year average if you do it your self
EQUALS: $1162 per month average

Now add
Weekend supplies$150+- (per weekend-beer/liquor, snacks, food, restaurant/bar tab)
Gas $200 +- per month

If you want to puke, break that down by hourly cost of use per season.

We do not have boat payments, but I still budget $1k. / month for everything. Summer slip, inside heated winter storage, insurance, fuel, repairs, upgrades, eats and treats, summer transient docking while on vacation, etc.
