currently looking to trade 240 sundeck. Looking at 250slx. Also considering cobalt. Had more than one say drive and ride a cobalt, much better than sea ray. Could this be? The 250 is a bit heavier than the cobalt of comparable size. Like the full seating of new 250's. Haven't been on either yet, but could be tough decision. Anything to look out for on cobalt? Boat show next week. We'll see who's more willing to sell. :smt101

Yes, Cobalt can ride better, depends on what model you are looking at. The R series is very smooth in rougher conditions. In this size, you should also consider a Bryant 246 or new Bryant Calandra. Both the Cobalt and Bryants' have higher freeboard, and more room in the cockpit and bow than the 250SLX, based on what I have seen at the boat shows this season.

Our first boat was a 240 SD. When we were looking to move up (wanted Yacht Certified) the sales people kept trying to steer us to the 250 SLX and the Cobalt people kept pushing us to their 26' model (can't remember the nomenclature anymore). IMHO neither is an upgrade over the 240. It wasn't until I stepped onto the 270 SLX and the Chap 276 what an upgrade over the 240 they were. If you are determined to stay in a similar size, look at the 260 SD or the Chap 254 or 264.

242, R5, 262, R7, 250slx, 270slx, all one dealer. May just keep what I got.
