This past Friday, we made the run up to Great Oak Landing, in the Chesapeake, for a dealer sponsored event in rather sloppy conditions of 20 – 25 mph winds and 3 foot constant chop. (BTW, thanks Tim for the pointers on how to navigate the entrance cut, this was helpful.)
Our boat handled just fine at around 20 – 24 mph and I only caught a little spray on the sunglasses once or twice with all the curtains down. Other than that it was a completely dry ride. We docked next to a new 310 that came from the same direction, but a little further in distance. The owners of the 310 were wet from head to toe and not just damp, but rather a fire hose or “supersoaker†type drenched. They said water came up over the sides of the hull and continued up and over the windows the entire trip. We had the opportunity to compare both boats as they were docked together to speculate on why the damp ride. I know SR had completely redesigned the 310, including the hull, but the only visible change I could see is a slightly more bulbous appearance to the sides and the elimination of the walk around to create more interior space.

Any other thoughts?

Could it have been the operator??? Possibly driving to fast or slow for the conditions?

That's my guess too, boat not trimmed properly or too much speed for the conditions.

Yes, my thoughts were that they were not handling the chop correctly, or maybe going too fast. They had 3 drivers and all were wet, but I guess this could mean all were a little inexperienced with the new boat.

The direction of travel in relationship with the wind has allot to do with a wet or dry ride. The speed you travel makes a difference also.
