Hi,

I'm considering purchasing a 1993 33 ft Sundancer and would like some input from members with experience with this tyoe of boat. It has 7.4L V-drives w/ standard equipment. It had 720 hrs on both Mec Cruiser engines and 175 hrs on the 5.0 Mec Gen set. Rayethon 40x radar & GPS. From what I read it looks like a great boat for me to step-up to from my Wellcraft. I'm looking for pros and cons about mechanics and what I should be looking out for before I write my check . I've been on a few of my friends Sea Rays( 40' Sedan and 34' Sundancer ) and really like the designs of these boats.

Thanks ,

I looked at this model and ended up buying my '89 340. I loved the salon but we thought the cockpit was a bit small. Also, the beam was a bit narrower and working on my engines is a bitch....that boat could be worse.

However, the best advise is survey, survey, survey.

Good Luck

The Mercury Quicksilver generator is unsupported. If you have any problems with it, you'll have a hard time finding someone who will want to service it. Parts will be hard to find and if you can find them, they'll be expensive.

The Raytheon XX series electronics are also obsolete. If it works, great. If not, plan to replace, not repair. Figure into the acquisition equation the possibility of needing to replace these items if they should ever fail.

If you are handy and willing to do some research and work yourself, having those obsolete things on your boat will not be a major disadvantage. But if you can't do things yourself and you pay someone to do everything, then there is a disadvantage to having stuff that is not well supported.

Best regards,
Frank
