My wife got me new horns for Christmas, nothing wrong with the old ones just looked heavily weathered and I thought that it would look nice to have a new shiny set on the bow. Will now I have no horns...

btw, This is on my 91 270 DA.

When I pulled off the old horns the wires were so brittle that they started to come apart. and now there is not enough to attach the new wires too. There is so much sealant around these wires I cant pull on them to see if there is more below. On my boat the Helm is on the port side (along with the horn switch) and the horn is on the starboard side just in front of the windshield.

I am looking for a little insight here if anybody has knowledge with this. Here are some of my thoughts

- Dill out the hole/sealant to see if there any extra wire behind it, if theirs not then I'll just have bigger holes.

- I don't know how to get to the wiring on the back side of the horn because it is behind the cabins head liner.

- Mount the horns somewhere else with better access to the helm.

Thanks,

Put new horns on my boat week before last. Old wires were in stable condition so all I had to do was reconnect. There was pleanty of slack available if needed so maybe you should try getting past the sealant to see if that will help. Good luck!
