Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I bought a 1979 24ft SeaRay CRV last year and
wanted to find a place to ask questions and be a part of a family. This will be the 2nd season of
ownership and I will be needing help getting her back in the water this year. I blew my lower
outdrive at the end of last season and have just now bought a used replacement for it and will be
installing it in a few weeks. I'll get her unwinterize and ready in the next 6 weeks. Here is a picture
of of the boat. I'm looking forward to being a part of your community. I'm located in Bear Delaware.

Thanks, John

Welcome to CSR John. Thats a beautiful boat with awesome lines. CSR is a great place for information with a lot of people that know a lot about these old boats. For starters put your boat info in your signature so they can better help you when replying to your posts. Typically its year, engine size, year etc, prop size, outdrive and so on. Welcome to the club!

It's a 1979 Merc 5.7
Alpha-1 Gen-1 Outdrive

It's adequate but I'm sure the motor is tired. I was thinking of
upgrading to a 5.7 that has 350Hp instead of 260Hp. I would
drop it in myself. I locked up the outdrive at the end of the
season last year and have bought a good used one to drop in
her. I want to change the water pump impeller and gear oil
before I do the install. I'm just waiting for warmer weather.
It won't be long now.

I am also restoring my 1979 24 ft sea ray, it looks like a very sturdy boat, I do not have to many problems, I did have to replace the engine. I still need to do some cosmetic work, replace a few hatches. what do you have for the anchor hatch.

thanks

Bill

I hope all your restoration work is going well.

As for my anchor hatch, I have a hatch just like the one that goes into the V-berth.
I think that is what you are referring to. Hope this helps with what you wanted to know.
If you want, I can take a picture tomorrow for you. Just let me know.

I have had a bad string of luck lately and I'll have to update everyone in a different
thread. I have done a lot of investigation on my restoration and if you need any info,
please don't hesitate to ask. I'll gladly share all my findings and research with you and
help in any way I can.

I look at it as an ongoing journey. I'm not trying to get to the end, I'm just enjoying
the ride. My 24ft SRV is bought and paid for and as the old farmers used to say, IT AINT
EATING ANY HEY ! meaning it isn't costing me anything to sit on my trailer in my yard. No
Dock Fees or payments on the boat or trailer. If I only take it out 6 times in a year then
that's 6 more times then anybody else without a boat.

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask any questions,

John
