I am trying to install a brand new Raymarine55, and as soon as I hook up the power and ground wires to where the old ones were, it instantly blows the fuse. Took the radio back out and tried just touching the wires to a 12v battery, and blew the in line fuse. Of course it's Friday night and no tech support available... VERY frustrated!

I'm not going to insult you by asking whether you're sure you've got the polarity correct, so there's not much you can do in this situation. I'd suspect there must be a dead short.

Given that it's a brand new unit I wouldn't open it up. Hopefully since it was DOA the retailer you purchased from will just exchange it with another one and let you avoid dealing with RM as a warranty issue.

Yes, I checked and rechecked the polarity. Bought it online from BoatersWorld (first purchase) so now I get to find out how their customer service is too. Thanks.
