Next Bailout: Newspapers

All part of his plan u know. What a waste, where is the free enterprise system. Produce a good product at a reasonable price and gee u can make money. I have to say this is getting old and wearing on me. Even Canada may look enticing soon.

If the New York Times ever stops publishing...what would I use to line the bottom of my bird cage with ? Time magazine is too glossy and they won't deliver the LA Times or Boston Globe to my house....A true dilemma!

I wonder why we have these nutcases who want to convert the US to Socialism... I keep having people I thought were educated telling me it's a great idea. Here's one definition: A political theory advocating state ownership of industry and/or an economic system based on state ownership of capital. Why in the hell would we want this?

Newspapers wouldn't be in trouble if they didn't deliberately make themselves irrelevant. When the "reporters" and "editors" decided that would would only publish news helpful to their left-leaning personal agendas, they, at the same time, made the results of that decision useless.

Publish all the news without overt bias and subscriptions will increase. I've cancelled all of my newspaper and news magazine subscriptions one-by-one over the years as the "news" became more like press-releases from DNC headquarters.

OK, speaking of news, but not quite on-topic, Arthur Laffer, one of the few economists who has a firm grasp of the problems beget by the incompetent Bush and grossly incompetent and dangerous Osama wrote about Taxes, Depression, and Our Current Troubles. Good reading.

Best regards,
Frank

They already are not worth the paper they are printed on. I thought newspapers were supposed to report relevant info without bias. I stopped wasting my time reading the rags we have here in Boston years ago. The newspapers are so far skewed to the left, you would thing the gov't already owns them. No wonder why so many people are brainwashed up here. I'm sure more readers will defect. Why not evolve? If that's not possible, then let them go away. The vacuum will be filled with other media.

News organizations in general (and primarily the major news Org's (CBS/ABC/NBC/CNN - all the one's Obama interviewed with this weekend) are failing in their primary role, to report on the news without bias. Rather, they act as a platform (as others have said) for proliferating their own left-leaning political views.

So, Basically, we're already closer to socialism/communism than many thought!

yeah, and horse and buggy businesses should have been bailout recipients as well...

That's right I live in the wrong state to vote republican. My vote doesn't count.

Newspapers meet the dodo.

Too funny, we just had this discussion this morning (one of my clients is the Hartford Courant and they are in some show over the weekend that my guys are setting up tomorrow and they have become so cheap that they will look like crap) that newspapers are irrelevant. Not so much for the content, for even if it became completely unbiased, none of us care for the inky paper fingers, or shuffling around pages of useless info to get to the few good stories.

Anything you want to know about, or are interested in can be found in 2 minutes on the computer with 100's of supporting stories in the form of text and even video. SO not only do you get the main story, but can research further in seconds, get different opinions etc....

Just like in another thread: Im no tree hugger, but what a huge, enormous waste of trees and paper in this day and age.

The younger guys here (20's etc) laugh at people with newspapers, and I tend to agree. It makes one look like an old fart.

Sounds dumb, but a good and entertaining movie about "bailouts" was "Other People's Money" starring that funny little guy Danny DeVito.

A poignant clip, watch it! (Ps...he mentions buggy whips, thus why you reminded me of this clip)
