Not having radar arch can be a challenge for cockpit lighting so here is my solution

LED strip from Autozone 19.99... double stick tape to canvas

Camcorder Battery with built in switch Ebay 14.00

Added a quick disconnect to the LED strip for removal of the battery for charging in the cabin
and the battery tucks into the canvas bow pocket... no visible external wiring

and I love it!!!

LED strip pulls 3 milliamp hr ...battery is 928 ma hr rating
should burn for days without recharge

Genius.... I love it, next on my list!!! Did you get a tri-color strip!

Very cool. I've got tons of spare LED strip lights that I picked up cheaply off ebay, so I would just need to get a hold of a battery.

The strips I have are designed for 12V, but I find them a little bright at that voltage and I've been running them off of 9V.

search camcorder 12v battery on ebay ... mine has a built n switch and came with a charger

Led's are very cool. I struggled for years for overhead lighting without a arch. We always had excellent cockpit lighting but that did not help much for looking at a chart or tying a lure. I used a 6' Dreamscape light which is encapsulated in a 1/2"x 1/2" square frosted tube at 45 degrees and is waterproof and tied to the canvas frame where you have your battery installed. This is hard wired and runs down the windshield frame to the dash with a dimmer. This folds with the top like its not even there. We are amazed of the light output.
