We went for a boat ride early this morning on Spring Lake. Not only were we the only boat out, everyone's slip was empty. We have have maybe six boats in the water on May 5. I've not seen this in 33 years of living here. The marinas are starting to fill up but no one is boating due to the weather. Spring is a great time to boat as you can see way up into the woods because the trees are not leafed out and the sun shadows are spectacular.

We splash tomorrow Am. If the big yellow thing is up in the sky, the cockpit will be warm and we will be burning some $4.42 / Gallon liquid gold at the rate of 24- 26 gallons per hour on our big pond. Let the boating begin!

We went out yesterday soaking up that bright thing in the sky for a wonderful little cruise.
Hardly any one was out!

And not only that, you can see the deer hoof prints in the snow! (of which this spring has had plenty of, along with melted snow coming from the sky in daily doses)

Funny you would say that. I looked out the window yesterday to see two deer and a turkey wandering around my neighbor's yard. At least the deer were eating his hosta an not ours. Hate to see deer moving into the neighborhood after spending bucks on new plantings.

Absolutely love, love, love that area! Raced MC scows on Spring Lake off and on for the last 30 years. I haven't raced there since the Blue Chip a few years ago, but brought my son up for Jr. Nationals maybe 3 years ago.

Wish I still lived over there.

This has to be one of the worse springs for weather in a long time. Too cold and wet to enjoy much of the boat.

Will try the GH municipal marina this weekend and perhaps a ride around Spring Lake too. Big lake still way too cold! I think we've only travelled 10 miles or so since launch April 7. Turn up the heat!!! Oh well, more fuel budget for when it does warm up!

Still sitting in North Shore storage, going to splash this coming week. It has almost been too cold to wax in the buildings. Awful, awful temps. Should be a nice, chilly ride to Saugatuck.....

Sounds like time for a fresh 3 O 6 to me.

The SLYC started racing yesterday. Quite a few boats were out on a nice windy day.

Last Friday was GREAT! Our lake is shallow, and the kids actually went tubing and swimming! Water was about 70 deg.
